Lititz businessman Ralph Spacht could not have foreseen the legacy he would leave the community when he chose in 1945 to donate and dedicate a building in the center of town as “Lititz Recreation Center”. Nearly 70 years later, Lititz recCenter continues to be the leading provider of opportunities for recreation and wellness to people of all ages and backgrounds in Lititz and surrounding communities. Hundreds of year-round fitness, aquatics, and special interest programs along with dozens of youth and adult sports are hosted in a fully accessible modern facility. Support for Lititz recCenter programs is generated partly through membership and program fees, but also to a substantial extent by local businesse, organizations, and individuals who value the quality of life inherent in a community with a thriving and vibrant recreation center.
Why is endowment important to your mission?
“My father, Ralph M. Spacht, had a vision to provide a safe environment where the young people of the Lititz community could congregate for recreation and fellowship. The endowment fund will provide necessary funds, given by generous donors, to support the Lititz Recreation Center and its many excellent programs. The growth of these funds will ensure that my father’s vision will continue into the future.”
– R. William Spacht, son of Ralph M. Spacht, Founder of Lititz Recreation Center
