Pool Rules (Effective 3/6/2008)
The goal of the swimming pool is to provide you with a safe, happy and healthy experience. To accomplish this, we have established the following rules:
- Swimming is allowed only if there is a Lifeguard on duty.
- Do not distract the Lifeguard or block their view.
- Obey the lifeguard and other Rec staff.
- Children not following the rules will get one verbal warning.
- The second time a rule is broken, the child will be benched for 5 minutes.
- The third time will result in the child being told to leave the pool.
- All children under the age of 11 years must be supervised by an adult in the building. Children under age 6 must have an adult in the water with them.
- Head to toe (including hair) showers with soap are required before entering the pool.
- Swim diapers are required for children under age 3.
- Bathing suits are required for swimmers. Shorts/t-shirts may be worn over them.
- Food and gum are not allowed in the pool area. Drinks must be in an unbreakable closeable container.
- Participants must walk.
- Horseplay (including pushing, dunking and sitting on shoulders) is not allowed.
- Diving is allowed only off the deep end wall (not the sides or shallow end).
- Hanging on the lane lines and playing on the entrance ramp is not allowed.
- The equipment by the deck bleachers is for lap swimmers and classes only.
- The starting blocks are for class and swim team use only.
- Only authorized personnel are allowed in the pool chemical room.
- Exits to electrical room, Fitness Center hallway and Aquatic Storage Unit are for emergency purposes only.
- No one is allowed in the pool balcony.
- To swim in the deep end, a person must be able to swim half of the width of the pool.
